Scenic Drives and Vitamin "Z"

We took a short drive on the Seward Highway.  This was another impressive ride in our new home.  We drove down to Girdwood and drove around Alyeska, the nearest ski resort.  We plan to visit the ski resort in the next few weeks to ride the tram up the side of the mountain.

Along the Seward Highway there are many turn-outs that allow for pictures and sightseeing.  I eagerly agreed to stop and snap some pictures at one such stop.  Jack hopped out of the van and posed with this amazing backdrop.  As a side note, this didn't make the two year old brother too happy.  For twenty minutes we heard a pathetic, "Me go too, MomMom."  Next time, buddy.

As we drove back into town the boys were counting down the miles to the destination that excited them the most, The Alaska Zoo.

Nolan was in charge of the map; but he did require a little help from Jack, from time to time.

The zoo was small and we were able to see most of the exhibits in under two hours, which was a perfect way to spend a beautiful 74 degree Sunday afternoon.  The animals were mainly native Alaskan species; moose, caribou, musk ox, and wolves were some of our favorites.

This placard caught our attention on a bench in the polar bear exhibit.  Pretty cool, don't you think?

Be still my heart.  Flowers from a handsome man, nothing better.

Someone is happy she is sprouting a tooth!  She is working on a second and third, as well.  Teething has wrecked havoc on our sleeping schedule; which is super fun when traveling and sleeping in hotel rooms.

Snack Time!

It is virtually impossible to get a photo with all three looking at the camera at the same time.  However, I loved this one.  Nolan found it quite impressive that Claire decided to snack on her foot and Jack; oblivious to the action.
