Find Your Spot

Miles Traveled: 240 Miles (Great Falls, Montana to Kalispell, Montana on Friday, May 31)

Adam spent the morning talking with a retired Coastie who has found a second career in ranching and farming.  While beginning a possible twilight tour in the Coast Guard, serious thought is going into what the future will look like for our family.  All options are being explored and considered.  It was an informal meeting for Adam and provided a good starting point to see what life in the Big Sky Country might be like. It certainly provided a lot of valuable insight which we may research further and consider.  However, after the time we have spent in Montana, I do not think I would object too strongly to a ranch in these mountains.

When Adam returned from his meeting we were able to get the van loaded for our quick drive to Kalispell.  With the kids and van loaded and already being a little past the required check out time at the hotel, Adam noticed a flat tire on our car.  It was still raining and we were all getting a little anxious.  We called roadside assistance through USAA and help arrived quickly.  Adam and the mechanic were able to get the spare tire on and the flat tire strapped to the cargo rack and we were off to Tire-Rama.  Three cheers goes to this company.  They got our van in immediately and had our tire patched and road ready within 45 minutes.  Now that I think about it, I wonder if our crew in their waiting room had anything to do with the prompt service we received?

There is a website called, FindYourSpot.  A few years ago, we received an email with a link to the site from a dear family friend, Paul.  Adam and I both took the quiz and we found the results to be quite accurate.  In fact, I had more Alaskan locations on my results than Adam did.  The quiz will ask you various questions about your preferences; such as the level of importance of shopping, nightlife, and cultural activities.  Comparing our lists, we both had the town of Kalispell, Montana in our top suggested cities.  When the orders for Alaska came through we made sure to include a visit here.

We rented another condo for our two night stay in Kalispell.  With the flat tire delay we arrived in town around 8pm.  The boys were thrilled with popcorn for dinner and a Star Wars movie on cable.
