Mountain Runoff

We have a special visitor.  My mom, known as Grandma Laurie, arrived late Tuesday night.  Jack was on his BEST behavior all of Tuesday to make sure he would be able to ride to the airport with Adam.  He even did dishes for me...

We decided to take the drive down the Seward Highway again, to show my mom the beauty of the Turnagain Arm.

As you drive south on the highway there are mountains (rocky cliffs) to your left and the Turnagain Arm to your right.  You feel like you are driving on the edge of the world.  The mountains are dotted with waterfalls and runoff from the snow melting on the mountains.  Once in awhile you can see local Alaskans filling water jugs to collect the fresh water.

We pulled off the highway to visit one such waterfall.  It was one of the larger ones and the sound was hypnotizing.  So much better than what you hear on a sound machine.
